2018 Shamrock Race FAQs

General Questions:

What do I get for my entry fee?

All participants in the Shamrock Race 5K Run/Walk & Irish Mile events receive a tech race shirt and the post-race food buffet.  All 5K finishers receive a medal. Age group awards are presented for the 5K event for males and females in the top three places in the age groups 10-14 years, 15-19 years, 20-24 years, 25-29 years, 30-34 years, 35-39 years, 40-44 years, 45-49 years, 50-54 years, 55-59 years, 60-64 years, 65-69 years, 70-74 years and 75+ years.

Double Dash participants: Runners registered for the combined 5K Run/Walk & Irish Mile events receive a long sleeve technical shirt, a single medal for the 5K, a Double Finisher medal and the food buffet. Participation in the Double Dash is limited to 500 runners.

How can I sign up for the events?

Online registration is now open on our website at: www.ShamrockRace.com/registration/

Or download the race entry form and mail in, or go to our Road Runner Sports store (see below for location) and register in person.

Are there entry limits for the race?

Yes…

The 5K Run/Walk is limited to 2,300.  The Double Dash is limited to 500.

What are the age limits for the races?

There are no age limits. We encourage participants of all ages to join us.

Is the race events walker friendly?

Yes, we will have plenty of participants that will walk. If you plan to walk the race, we do require that you line up at the back of the race corral so as not to impede the faster runners.

Are there refunds if cannot attend? Can someone else run with my bib no?

NO REFUNDS; ONLY TRANSFERS ALLOWED TO ANOTHER PERSON BEFORE OUR ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES!

Are baby joggers or strollers or pet dogs allowed during the race?

If you choose to run with a baby jogger or a pet dog, you must seed yourself in the back of all runners. It is your responsibility to make sure the baby jogger or pet dog does not impede other runners as well as you must take extra precaution as to your safety, your child’s safety and the safety of the runners around you. We reserve the right to pull any person from the race who is endangering other runners or themselves.  All dogs MUST be kept on a SHORT leash.

Are headphones (iPods, mp3 players, etc) allowed during the race?

Headphones are allowed for any runner however, we do recommend that runners use extreme precaution when using headphones during the race event for safety reasons.

When is the last day to register?

The last day to register “online” is Thursday, March 15th by 11:00 pm EST.

Packet Pick Up:

How will I receive my race packet?

You must pick up your race packet before the event. We will not mail race packets.

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

Yes.

Race Information:

Can I register on race day?

At the Plymouth Arts and Recreation Center (PARC) gym ( MAP):
Race day morning, March 18, from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM. CASH OR CHECK ONLY.

Do you accept credit cards for registration race day?

No, cash or check only.

Will there be water stations?

Yes, there will be water station at the halfway point of the 5k event.  Also water is provided at the start & finish areas.

Will there be medical aid stations?

The Medical Aid station is located at start/finish line area and course marshals on all three courses have two-way radios for contact with public safety officials.

Will there be bathrooms/portable toilets available?

Indoor restrooms are available at the Plymouth Arts and Recreation Center (PARC) and at The Gathering pavilion.  Portable toilets are available at start/finish area next to the gathering pavilion, adjacent to Kellogg Park, and at the half way point of the 5K course location.

Where can we park for the event?

Parking is available in downtown Plymouth, both on-street and in municipal lots.  The City of Plymouth charges $5 per vehicle in for municipal parking lots and structures.  Kona Running Company offers free shuttle buses from Troy Design and Manufacturing (TDM) on Sheldon Road.

Shuttle bus parking is at the ACH Plant – 14425 N. Sheldon in Plymouth (Sheldon Road & M-14).  Buses will drop runners off at Plymouth Arts and Recreation Center.   First bus leaves ACH about 6:40 AM and will run every 10-15 minutes. Last bus leaves the Plymouth Arts and Recreation Center at 10:30 AM.

Where are start/finish lines and the event start times?

Start and Finish lines are at Kellogg Park in downtown Plymouth.  Shamrock Race Irish Mile at 8:30 am, and 5K at 9:00 am.

B-Tag chip timing?

Runners will need to wear Race Bib on their front – shirt/ jacket/ pants – to be scored in the event (ChronoTrack B-tag is on the bib).

Awards:

Age Group Awards?

Age group awards are presented for the 5K event for males and females in the top three places in the age groups 10-14 years, 15-19 years, 20-24 years, 25-29 years, 30-34 years, 35-39 years, 40-44 years, 45-49 years, 50-54 years, 55-59 years, 60-64 years, 65-69 years, 70-74 years and 75+ years.  Awards be given out at the Awards tent in Kellogg Park at 9:30 AM. If you think you have won an award, please check at the Awards tent. If you are unable to wait for the official results and pick up your award on race day, you may have a friend pick it up or pay to have it shipped.
